I feel full of energy anytime I am at a course in an Art of Living Ashram. I especially remember my experiences in Bad Antogast, Germany. I wake up really early everyday to join the group in yoga asanas, breathing techniques and meditation. We call this practice sadhana in sanskrit. Sadhana helps me remove any physical or mental blockage or lethargy and boosts my energy flow. It balances the energy in my body and makes me feel good and wanting to be active. The sign of normal blood pressure is radiant health and dynamism. For me, it is this daily sadhana along with a vegetarian diet that contributes to my having normal blood pressure. It is a great feeling - Shankari

Medical specialists have stated that a blood pressure of 119/79 is the healthiest level for an adult. Everyone should strive to maintain their ideal blood pressure level.

When you measure blood pressure you need to take into account 2 measurements : - systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

Systolic blood pressure is taken when the heart is pumping out blood and diastolic is taken between heart beats, when the heart is resting.

The normal blood pressure range of a person aged 20 to 40 years is 120mm Hg systolic pressure and 80mmHg diastolic pressure.

Anyone with a reading above this range is classified as having high blood pressure.

Doctors use a Sphygmomanometer to measure blood pressure. It has an inflatable arm cuff and comes with a little air pump. The reading on this device has two measures; the systolic pressure is the number on the top or left side of the reading while the diastolic pressure is the number on the bottom or right side. You may take your own blood pressure with the some advice from your doctor. Use your own monitor at home.

A reading of 120/72, for example, means that you have a systolic pressure of 120 and a diastolic pressure of 72. These two levels of blood pressure are both very important and you need to keep them at a healthy level.

What Is Normal Blood Pressure Level?

A blood pressure between 120/80 and 129/84 is considered as normal. A blood pressure of 119/79 is the healthiest level for an adult - but not necessarily for everyone. If your reading increases suddenly to 130/85 or 139/89, you will be diagnosed with high blood pressure. Normal blood pressure can vary a lot, and as long as one is physically very active, there is not much to worry about.

There are many ways in which you can maintain normal blood pressure with the most important one being the maintenance of a healthy weight.

Healthy Lifestyle

You can accomplish this by choosing foods which are low in fat and calories. When you take fatty foods, you stand a higher risk of developing health problems like heart attacks. It is advisable to do these exercises on a daily basis. Instead of taking the elevators, you might prefer to use the stairs for a change.

Alcohol and Smoking

A normal blood pressure level can also be achieved by avoiding unhealthy lifestyles, such as excessive consumption of alcohol. Drinking too much alcohol raises the blood pressure, and adds calories that may increase your weight. Where you really have to drink, you ought not to take more than two drinks per day. For women, one drink per day is enough.

Kicking the smoking habit will help you reduce the blood pressure from high to normal and enable you live a healthy life. Moreover, it is important to monitor your blood pressure on a regular basis.
