Nutrition rich foods make a low blood pressure diet
The main cause of low blood pressure or hypotension is improper nutrition: the easiest way to deal with the condition is to embark on a nutritional diet. Your diet should be sufficiently balanced, and make sure that you have adequate supplies of carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins.
Vitamin Rich Diet
Vitamin deficiency contributes in most cases to hypotension; for this reason, a good low blood pressure diet should include a good serving of foods rich in vitamins. The critical vitamins here are vitamins B, C and E. Vitamin B5, for example, is crucial for energy production; lack of it leads to removal of sodium in the body, leading to hypotension. This vitamin is easy to obtain because it is contained in all vegetables, and is also abundantly available in most whole grains. In addition to consuming plentiful supplies of fresh vegetables, a diet rich in whole grains such as wheat and rice helps replenish the body’s supply of vitamin B5.
Vitamin C cna also be found in a variety of fruits and vegetables, which may be included in your low blood pressure diet. Citrus fruits have plenty of vitamin C; so do grapefruits, lemons, melons and oranges. Vegetable sources of vitamin C include spinach, cabbage, cauliflowers, carrots. Peas, avocados, soybeans, coconuts and pomegranates are also an important source of this vitamin.
Vitamin E is also readily available from a variety of vegetable sources.
Protein rich diet
Include enough proteins to assist in blood cell building. Weakened blood cells are unable to pump blood properly: consuming protein-rich foods will help address this problem. One of the best sources of protein is nuts, grains and beans. Using products made from wheat is highly recommended. To get the most protein out of the grains and vegetable you consume, it is advisable to consume a combination of various food types, as some plant proteins are incomplete. A good combination, for example, would be a meal containing both wheat and lentils.
Drink plenty of water between meals, and not with meals
Dehydration leads to hypotension, and the best way to address this is to take as much water as possible. If you are pursuing a low blood pressure diet, you need to drink at least two liters of water each day. And it does not have to be any special water – mineral waters and the like; water from your tap should be adequate. Drinking adequate amounts of water is recommended, because such consumption increases the volume of blood in the body; and consequently leads to a rise in blood pressure. Moreover, water contains ample amounts of sodium and other minerals which you can benefit from when suffering from hypotension.
Choose Healthy Salts
While sodium is hardly mentioned positively, because it has been identified as one of the main culprits in hypertension, mineral rich salts can be good - if you are suffering from hypotension, you will benefit immensely when using mineral rich salts in your regular diet. The balance of fluids in the body is inhibited when the supply of sodium is inadequate - as is the case for people suffering from low blood pressure. Himalayan salts contain more than 75 trace elements. When you start using Himalayan salts you will realize that it tastes good as well. A pinch of salt with your favorite meal would not be bad !
