The Blood Pressure Cure: 8 Weeks to Lower Blood Pressure
Author: Robert E. Kowalski

I was already familiar with another of Robert Kowalski's books, The 8-Week Cholesterol Cure, so I knew that this book about blood pressure would be a good buy. It follows the same premise that it is possible to change your life and improve your health in just eight weeks through natural means rather than with medications.
The author was only 35 when he suffered a heart attack, he later had to undergo two coronary bypasses. It was enough to change his whole life – he lost weight, quit cigarettes, managed his stress levels and lowered his blood pressure and cholesterol. And he did all of this without taking any medications. So when you hear people say 'he knows what he's talking about' they mean someone like Robert Kowalski.
Unlike a lot of modern diet books, this one recommends a high-carb low-protein balance. This is because it pushes you towards carbohydrate heavy whole grains such as oatmeal which are clinically proven to lower you cholesterol. My friends though I was mad eating so many carbs, they all said I would gain weight but I didn't, I lost it – it is more to do with healthy eating than it is the absence of any particular food group and cutting back on saturated fats and sugar is the best thing you can possibly do to help your diet. I'm a convert to olive oil and fish – I eat oily fish at least three times a week. And the proof of the (low fat, low sugar) pudding is in the eating – my blood pressure has dropped.
I lead a busy lifestyle yet I've found time in my day to fit in the exercise I need, it isn't all that difficult once you analyze your work and home-life patterns. Now rather than grab a coffee and muffin on my way to the subway, I walk to the next station down the line and I microwave some oatmeal when I get to work. At lunchtime I walk in the park or around the block – every day come rain, wind or snow!
