I practice yoga at the Art of Living Foundation and have found that the Vajrasana is very good to lower high blood pressure.
I would like to share it with you.
It is very simple !
Vajrasan is also called the thunderbolt or diamond position. It makes one strong like diamond !
This posture may be a little uncomfortable as first, though it will get better with practice.
How to do it:
Place a thick folded blanket on the floor.
Sit down on your heels.
Sit with your big toes touching.
The heels slightly apart.
Place your palms on your knees.
This posture will automatically make you sit upright.
Keep the eyes closed.
Breathe gently and relax.
You may hold this posture for a few minutes.
Beginners may find it difficult. If you do, use a cushion to make yourself more comfortable.
Here are some benefits of Vajrasan:
This posture makes the spine very strong and the mind steady. This is the only yoga posture that may be practiced after meals. The others have to be done before meals or two to three hours after a meal. This posture helps in digestion, calms the mind and is especially helpful in reducing high blood pressure.
